My suggestion would be to get rid of the resistor (wire), install a 12V coil - like a Lucas Sport Coil or a blue Bosch coil - and a Pertronix Ignitor-II. You will not regret it, and the tach will still work. No points to set ever again, and easier starting. -- Joachim
