i've heard the same thing about synthetics on an older engine - mebbe I should thing again about using it. . .
and i was using 'gunk' metaphorically :-)
the carb issue is more than just a bit of hesitation on hard acceleration under 3500-4000 rpms. it's more of a burble and stumble before it catches. again - makes me think it's too rich.
i need to look at the books on the carbs. . .
i was told that with more hp the overdrive tranny wouldn't handle it. but, i don't need to worry about that right now. i can burn that bridge when i come to it.
